Frequently Asked Questions.

1. Are there any service fees required to use The Egg?

There are no service fees. The Egg uses Wi-Fi to connect to the Web so all you need is a home access point or public Wi-Fi hotspot and you'll be ready to share your content or access your Egg remotely.

2. What happens if I lose my Egg? Is my data safe?

Your Egg is password-protected so others cannot unlock it if it is lost (not yet implemented).

We recommend that you back up your Egg occasionally to further protect your content. You can back up your Egg by connecting it to a Mac or PC via the USB cable where it will show up as a storage device. Your Egg can then be backed up to the PC/Mac, another storage device or even to cloud storage. If the Egg is lost, we have the ability to remote-wipe all of the content on The Egg

Password protection is not yet implemented. It will be included in a future software update.

3. How can The Egg fit in my pocket if it's shaped like an egg?

The Egg is actually a flat, egg-shaped device and will easily fit in a pocket or purse. Check out our video to see how easy it is to carry.

4. How does The Egg connect to the Web?

The Egg uses Wi-Fi to connect to the Web. You can connect it to your home or business Wi-Fi network and it connects to many public hotspots. The Egg is a self-configuring device and once you select your Wi-Fi network and enter the Wi-Fi password, your Egg website will be visible on the Web via its unique domain name.

5. I'm a software developer and would like to develop an app for The Egg. What should I do?

Please contact us at info(at) and we'll be in touch with you with developer information.

6. How is The Egg different from similar devices?

The Egg is a unique device and there's nothing else quite like it. Here are some of its key differentiators: First of all, it comes in a stylish hand-held form-factor that fits easily in a pocket or purse. Unlike a typical storage device, it has a touch screen that permits you to view and share your content and to change The Egg's settings. Every Egg has an on-board website and unique domain name that lets you share your content privately without using cloud services. Finally, you can connect The Egg to a phone, camera or other storage device with a USB cable and it will automatically import content.

7. Can I add storage to The Egg?

The Egg comes with 64, 128 or 256 GB of internal storage. This cannot be expanded, however, The Egg can easily be backed up to a PC or Mac.

8. How can I back up The Egg?

When you plug The Egg into a PC or Mac (via USB), it shows up as a regular storage device with the content shown in a standard directory structure. You have the ability to back up the content to the PC or cloud or another storage device.
